Ambient dub-techno duo Sounds From the Ground low gear came to prominence in 1996 with the epic "Trigon," which was followed by another landmark production, "Cumulate." After cathartic these two successful singles, duette members Elliot Jones and Nick Woolfson crafted their debut long-player, Kin (1996). The long-familiar West Coast ambient label Waveform released the album in the States to a quick response. However, Sounds From the Ground didn't repay with some other long-player until 2000, Terra Firma (in the get-go released overseas as Mosaic). By that time whatsoever momentum the duette had established with their debut had long since wasted.

Worth Seeing

Here ar our critic's choices of movies to see this weekend:

All About Eve: Bette Davis was really ... something. She had lots of ... power! And skill to ... spare! And she had the inimitable (but always imitated) ... delivery! No 1 was like her, and if you want to see her at her absolute c. H. Best (or "best," as she might take put it), go to the Stanford Theatre starting Saturday for this grand 1950 gem, which exploits all of Davis' virtues and makes virtues of her vices. It's a film that celebrates the actress' braveness and sometimes exasperating staginess, through vivid dialogue and a fib that has become a kind of modern fiction. Saturday through Tuesday at the Stanford Theatre, Palo Alto.

The Last Mistress: In the delirious dash to see the summer blockbusters, don't overlook this treasure from theater director Catherine Breillat, starring the always provocative Asia Argento as the former kept woman whom a young married man can't seem to forget. Argento's flamboyant appeal and Breillat's cold, incisive eye with regard to all matters sexual make for a thoroughly winning combination. At Bay Area theaters.

Mamma Mia!: The adaptation of the Broadway melodic has its flaws - most of the actors are about 15 years too old for their roles, and Pierce Brosnan really can't sing. He seems in pain just trying. However, don't call back of it as a movie. Think of it as a kind of vacation. The setting is lovely (a Greek island), the ABBA songs are good, the cast is appealing and it's dozens of playfulness. At Bay Area theaters.

Belfast's Vital Festival Cancelled Because Of 'Festival Saturation'

The 2008 edition of the Vital festival in Belfast has been cancelled because organisers have struggled to book acts for the event.

They blamed the sheer number of festivals in the United Kingdom, understood to be around 500, for the cancellation.

In previous years, the Vital festival, which takes place in Ormeau Park, has seen performances from Kings of Leon and The Killers.

But, in a statement, Tom McCusker, said that this year the event had found it hard to attract "top acts within a climate of apparent over-saturated scheduling of talent at this level".

Tennent's, the company behind the festival, said they still hoped to continue their relationship with Northern Ireland.

Dennis Quaid - The Things They Say 8418

"As I grow older, I put all life's bulls**t aside. I think the process of the laying off of the bulls**t starts around 40. Before that, most men have their heads stuck in their ass. After 40, you see things differently. You've found yourself. You're accepting yourself and what you got from life." Actor DENNIS QUAID is happy with life at the age of 54.
